Having been in the role, describe the role in your own words.

A robust, interactive role enabling people to merge together.

What initially drew you to take up the role?

Being drawn out of the comfort zone.... via a push from fellow club members. It was not an idea but l took up the challenge.

What were the challenges you faced while in office?

The themes of the meeting weren't shared early enough. This often delayed creation of and circulation of posters in good time. This was a challenge but am sure it can be overcome through better communication.

How did you manage to keep a balance between work and Toastmaster leadership? Did you experience club officer burnout?

Due to running multiple startup enterprises, time was very much a challenge. I found I was sometimes not fully committed to service or helping the club due to high levels of fatigue.

Any lessons learnt while in office?

The heart of mentoring: Getting the most out of life isn’t about how much you keep for yourself, but how much you pour into others ~ David Stoddard

Advise to your successor?

Be creative and do videos and member stories so as to lower down poster creating costs to help the club with finances. Find a mentor early and work side by side with them to ensure seamless transition at the end of the toastmaster year.

Now that you are done with your tenure, where to next in your Toastmaster Leadership journey?

Doing more speeches. Growing myself more through the club platform.
